You know, I really should wait until May Day to post this, but it turned out so dang cute, I couldn’t wait!
You will need:
- Round cake
- White buttercream frosting
- Necco Wafer candies
- Flaked coconut
- Green Food coloring
- Pink and Yellow Peep Bunnies
- Wilton Icing flowers – Daisy
- Mini cupcake liners
- Toothpicks
- Wooden skewer
- Decorative paper straw
- Ribbon
- Silk flower
1. Frost cake with white buttercream frosting. Next use the Viva Towel method to smooth the frosting – this technique is absolutely brilliant and I learned it from my super sweet and genius cakey friend Melissa from MyCakeSchool.com – you can get her Viva Towel tutorial here.
Place a row of Necco wafers around the bottom of the cake.
MAYPOLE PEEP CAKE
Adorable Maypole Peep cake for Spring, Easter or May Day!
Ingredients
- Round cake
- White buttercream frosting
- Necco Wafer candies
- Flaked coconut
- Green Food coloring
- Pink and Yellow Peep Bunnies
- Wilton Icing flowers - Daisy
- Mini cupcake liners
- Toothpicks
- Wooden skewer
- Decorative paper straw
- Ribbon
- Silk flower
Instructions
1. Frost cake with white buttercream frosting. Place a row of Necco wafers around the bottom of the cake.
2. Place coconut in a plastic bag and add a few drops of green food coloring. Shake until a nice shade of green. Sprinkle on top of cake for grass. Place pre-made icing daisies on top of grass.
3. Cut a bunny Peep in half using kitchen shears.
4. Push a toothpick in the middle of the mini cupcake liner.
5. Place bunny Peep head on top of toothpick.
6. For the maypole, place a wooden skewer in the middle of the cake. Place straw over the skewer. With a hot glue gun, attach 6 long pieces of ribbon and the flower to the top of the straw. Place the Peep bunnies around the maypole. Trim the ribbons to the same length around the cake.
