You will need:
For the cookies:
1 cup butter, room temperature
¾ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup light brown sugar
2 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
For the glaze:
1/3 cup butter, room temperature
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 Tablespoons water
2 tsp vanilla extract
Powdered sugar for dusting

For the cookies:
Mix butter and sugars in a stand mixer until fluffy. Add eggs and egg yolk one at a time. Mix in vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder in a medium bowl and slowly add to the mixer bowl. Mix just until combined, don’t overmix.
Using about ¼ cup of dough, roll into balls and flatten a little on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. I put 6 cookies to a sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 14 minutes.
Let cool.
For the glaze:
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add in the sugar and water and stir until the sugar dissolves, don’t let the mixture boil. Stir in the vanilla.
Brush the glaze over the tops of the cookies.
Dust cookies with powdered sugar.
