This copycat Cracker Barrel Chicken and Dumplings recipe is JUST LIKE the real thing! It’s my favorite thing on their menu and since there is no Cracker Barrel anywhere in my state, I just had to try and re-create the recipe, and let me tell you, I nailed it!

I really wish we had a Cracker Barrel in Washington State, but then again, it’s probably best we don’t because I would have to drive by with blinders on. I love their food and their breakfast is hard to beat. But my absolute favorite thing on the menu (yes, I love it even more than their hash brown casserole –click here for my copycat Cracker Barrel hash brown casserole recipe) is their Chicken and Dumplings!
The chicken is super tender and the flat, yummy dumplings in the chicken gravy are just impossible to beat. It’s the best comfort food in the world in my opinion!
You will need:
About 2-3 cups of cooked chicken breast torn into bite sized pieces
6 cups chicken broth
1 TB baking powder
2 cups flour
1 ¼ tsp salt
1 cup plus 2 TB milk

Directions for Cracker Barrel Chicken and Dumplings:
First in a large pot, heat the broth and simmer.
Next, for the dumplings, combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Stir in the milk and stir until smooth.
Then, let the dough rest for about 5-10 minutes.
Now, roll the dough out onto a generously floured board to about ½” thickness.
Next, using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into ½” squares.
Then, drop dumpling squares into simmering broth.
Simmer for about 25 minutes and stir often.
Finally, add the cooked chicken breast and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
This Cracker Barrel Chicken and Dumpling is the best copycat recipe and I can’t taste the difference from the original! This is the best comfort food ever and and easy family dinner. Everyone loves this recipe! Serve with some green beans with bacon or a side salad with ranch and you have the perfect meal!

This is THE BEST Cracker Barrel Chicken and Dumpling copycat recipe. It tastes just like the original!
Ingredients
