Art palette cookies

Have a budding artist in the family? Planning an art themed party? These are the perfect treat for your celebration! With dots of  icing “paint” these art palette cookies are mini masterpieces everyone will love!

You will need:

  • Your favorite sugar cookie recipe
  • Art palette cookie cutter
  1.  Roll out dough and cut out palette shapes using cookie cutter.
  2.  Bake according to your recipe. Let cool completely.
  3. Frost cookie with white royal icing.  Let dry.
  4. Pipe on a dot of each color royal icing for the “paint” . Let dry overnight.

Royal icing recipe:

  • 3 tablespoons meringue powder
  •  4 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
  •  6 tablespoons water
  1.  Beat all ingredients at low speed for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until icing forms peaks.
  2. Divide icing into 6 small bowls.  Leave one bowl white.
  3.  Mix in red, orange, yellow, green & blue food coloring to get the bright colors you want .
  4.  This icing hardens quickly so be sure to keep the icing covered with a wet towel or place in plastic bag.

These are super cute for any art theme party and so easy to make too! I actually sent some to my son who is going to an art college and he and his roommates loved them!
