You will need:
I (12 oz.) can Low Sodium SPAM
2 TB light soy sauce
2 TB light brown sugar (or white granulated sugar)
Fried egg *optional
Chopped green onions *optional
Toasted sesame seeds *optional
Directions for TikTok Famous Sugar Fried SPAM:
First open the can of SPAM and slice into 5 thick slices. I use the low-sodium SPAM. You can use the regular SPAM if you’d like, it’s a little salty even with the low sodium soy sauce, but if you serve it with rice, it’s not too salty. I prefer the low sodium because sometimes we like to eat it without rice.
Next dice the SPAM into bite sized pieces
Now fry the SPAM over medium heat so it’s nice and brown on all sides.
Then mix together the light soy sauce and the brown sugar. Now you can use white granulated sugar if you’d like, but if you have the brown sugar on hand I think it gives the SPAM a richer taste.
Next pour the brown sugar in the pan and cook and coat until it is reduced and sticky, about 2 minutes.
Fry and egg if desired and serve the egg and SPAM over white sticky rice.
Garnish with green onion and toasted sesame seeds.
