You will need:

Cupcakes (for my banana cake recipe, click here)

Frosting

Black fondant

White fondant

Round/scalloped fondant cutter set

Food safe paintbrush

Mini round fondant cut out plunger

  1. Place a small amount of frosting on top of the cupcake so you have a nice dome shape.  Keep most of the frosting on top and frost a tiny amount on the side.  Too much and it will ooze out when you put the fondant on.
  2. Knead a little of the black fondant into the white fondant, incorporating until you get the right shade of light grey.
  3.  Roll out the grey fondant on parchment paper and cut out a round shape using the largest round fondant cutter (2 13/16 size).
  4.  Place the fondant circle on top of the frosted cupcake.  Carefully smooth the fondant down the sides of the cupcake until the fondant reaches the edge of the cupcake wrapper.
  5.  Wipe off any excess frosting if some oozes out.
  6.  Use the palm of your hand to gently smooth out the top of the cupcake.
  7.  Roll out the black fondant.  Using the round mini cut-out set plunger tool, cut and punch out the black eyes.
  8. Next use the small egg oval cutter to make the nose.
  9.  Roll out the grey fondant , using the small fondant cutter (the scalloped edge) cut out the ears by cutting the circle in half.
  10. Knead a little of the black into a little of the white fondant for a slightly darker grey.
  11. Roll out the dark grey fondant and using the small round fondant cutter (smooth edge) make the insides of the ears by cutting them in half.
  12. Using the food safe brush dipped in a small amount of water, attach the eyes, ears and nose to the top of the cupcake.
