Directions for Grandma’s Classic Macaroni Salad:
Cook pasta according to package and drain.
In a large bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, mayo and mustard.
Next mix in the celery and onion.
Now stir in the pasta. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
*optional add small cubed cheddar cheese – my sisters love to add small cubes of cheese and honestly it’s really good! Pepper jack would be great too.
Grandma’s classic macaroni salad can easily be doubled and is perfect for a crowd. It’s even better the day after you make it so it’s great to make a day ahead! We love using the Ditalini pasta for this “macaroni” salad because the mayo and seasonings coat the smaller pasta so much better.
This is the best macaroni salad recipe! It’s so simple and just plain good. There’s a reason why it’s called a classic, because everyone loves it!
