You will need:
Fresh pineapple
Sharp knife
Cutting board
Paper towels
Parchment paper
Muffin tin
Directions for Dried Pineapple Flowers:
First, preheat the oven to 200 degrees F
Next, set the pineapple on a cutting board sideways and cut the top and bottom off.
Now place pineapple upright and trim off the rind around the pineapple. Make sure you trim enough to remove most of the eyes but keep as much of the flesh as you can.
Now use a melon baller to remove the remaining eyes.
Then slice the pineapple as thin as you can into 1/8-inch thick rounds and place the cut pineapple rounds on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels to absorb the juice. Place more paper towels on top and gently press down to remove the most of the juice.
Then remove the paper towels and place the pineapples on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Place in oven for about 40 minutes, then remove and flip the pineapple with a spatula. Bake for another 40 minutes or until the pineapple is mostly dry and the edges are a little brown. ** depending on the thickness and juiciness of the pineapple, you may have to leave them in longer, anywhere up to 3 hours. Just keep checking.
Finally, remove the pineapple when warm and place immediately into a muffin cup so that it will look like a flower. Let dry on counter overnight.
