UPDATE: Thanks to all who voted for my Dog Days of Summer Party to support the Beagle Freedom Project! I’m happy to report that we won the grand prize of $5000 which will be donated to the Beagle Freedom Project!
When I was asked by Balloon Time to take part in their “Party on a Dime” challenge, boy was I “up” for it! Especially since if my party got the most votes, a charity near and dear to my heart, the Beagle Freedom Project would receive $5000!
So as summer winds down, a “Dog Days of Summer” party theme to benefit the beagles seemed perfect!
A super sweet dessert table done on a dime. The ballons were filled using Balloon Time’s portable helium tank. It was really easy and made the prettiest backdrop ever!
I decorated this cute beagle cake with Necco Wafer candies and made the edible beagle topper out of fondant using a tutorial by the Cupcake Queen herself, Victoria Threader of Victorious Cupcakes.
And of course the pooches needed their own party table. It was so easy to decorate the balloons to look like beagles. Just construction paper and a black Sharpie!
A peanut butter pupcake. Frosted with cream cheese and decorated with dog biscuits. Get my easy recipe here. And yes, hoomans can eat this too, it really is delish. Just take off the dog biscuits.
My famous “popsicle” cupcakes made from Mike & Ike candies. For a full tutorial, click here.
I made some white chocolate dipped Oreos with fondant paw prints. People treat only please.
Citrus lollipops from the dollar store.
These sweet mini cones are not ice cream at all! The cones are filled with Rice Krispie Treats and then dipped in candy coating. Add some sprinkles and a Sixlet candy on top and you have a sweet treat that won’t melt in the summer heat!
Lemonade and popsicles. Gotta have ’em at a summer party, right?
Sixlet candies in shimmery summer colors!
My beagle Kurby can’t wait for his buddies to arrive.
Dollar store stuffed doggies for the kiddos to “adopt” and take home!
Ice cream cone squeaky toys for the dogs!
Peanut butter pupcakes in cuppie and dog bone shapes – bite size for small pups.
I bought these SUPER CUTE ice cream dog cookies. YES THEY ARE DOG COOKIES from my neighborhood pet shop, Muddy Paws.
Beagle Balloons!!
It’s almost time Kurby, patience.
Kurby, Petunia & Daisy all love the treat table!
My cute summer banner made from scrapbook paper and clip art printed from my computer.
Total cost of party only $67.
Thank you to Balloon Time for inviting me to be a part of this Party on a Dime Challenge. VOTING HAS CLOSED Please vote for my party herethe beagles and I thank you!!
Six years ago, we adopted our sweet beagle Kurby. I have had a love for beagles ever since I was a kid and fell in love with Snoopy. A few years ago, I heard about the The Beagle Freedom Project . Their mission is to rescue beagles used in animal experimentation in research laboratories and give them a chance at life in a loving forever home.
There are over 70,000 beagles used in animal experimentation in the United States. Beagles are the breed of choice for exactly the same reasons they are so great with families. They are docile, eager to please and, forgiving.
Whatever your views may be on animal testing, I think we can all agree that after the testing is done, these beagles who have given so much for our sake, deserve to be placed in loving homes instead of being destroyed.
