Even better, I can make them gluten-free for me! They are the perfect topper for sandwiches, burgers, salads and of course in your Thanksgiving green bean casserole!

These gluten-free homemade onion strings are the perfect way to keep your green bean casserole free of any gluten! They are super easy to make and are ready in just a few minutes!
You will need:
One sweet yellow onion, sliced thin
Buttermilk
1 cup flour
Salt and pepper to taste
Vegetable or canola oil
Wire baking rack

Directions for Copycat French’s Fried Onions Strings
Heat oil in large pan over medium high heat
Cut the onion into thin slices
Pour buttermilk into a small bowl and place onions in the buttermilk
Now season the flour with salt and pepper
Place the buttermilk coated onion slices in the seasoned flour and shake off excess.
Fry the onion strings in batches until crispy and golden brown
Place on wire rack to drain.
These are the BEST! Season them with salt and pepper or with your favorite seasoning salt! I love using them in my green bean casserole for Thanksgiving and Christmas and had to create a recipe that was gluten-free. This is so much better than the original from a can!
