Christmas tablescape ideas – red & gold
I decided to have my tablescape match my tree colors – red & gold.
A great tip if you don’t have any napkin holders is to just simply tie a ribbon in the middle of a accordian pleated napkin. So pretty and inexpensive!
Christmas at my house usually consists of my sisters’ families and my parents. There are about fourteen of us in all, and I like everyone at the same table.I put on beautiful red damask tablecloths I bought the year before on clearance at Walmart. Five bucks! So buy your staples like tablecloths after the season and save yourself a lot of money. I purchased the gold napkins there too.
I found the angel and the Peace sign for the centerpiece at Pier One Imports. The angel was a splurge at $20. You have to love your centerpiece or the table just won’t come together, so a splurge is okay in this case because you will use it over and over for years to come. The greenery was bought plain at Michael’s with the taper candleholders already attached. I just added silk poinsettias and berries to match my color scheme and then I was all set.
Next, I took some plastic gold snowflake ornaments, sold in packs of 10 for $1 and put votive candles on top of them. Decorated with pretty plastic plates and using my crystal stemware, my table was complete. Play your favorite Christmas music softly in the background, (Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown Christmas is my first choice since it goes perfectly with my beagle).
A cute little (and yummy) party favor are my Tootsie Pop Angels – made of tissue paper, ribbon and doilies.
Gold bead garland in a glass vase with a gold poinsettia pick scattered around the room, makes for cute and inexpensive decor – all from Dollar Tree.
