So why use a Moon Pie you ask? Well you could use mini cakes or cupcakes, but the Moon Pies were the perfect size, they are flat on top and I didn’t want the sides tapered like a cupcake. So the Moon Pies were perfect.

Directions for Capybara Mini Cakes:
First mix together white fondant with a little chocolate and orange fondant to make a light brown color for the capybara’s body.
Next roll the fondant into a tapered log shape.
Now bend the fondant in half with the tapered end as the head and nose.
Then smooth out the fondant and shape the head and nose to look like the capybara.
Now mix together a small among of chocolate fondant and a little bit of white fondant. Make sure this color is a little darker than the body.
Take a small amount of the fondant and roll into tiny balls for the ears.
Now flatten the balls just a little with your fingers.
Then make an oval shape out of the darker fondant for the nose.
Press the oval shape flat with your fingers
Now attach the ears and nose to the capybara head with frosting or a little water.
Let capybara dry for 8 hours or overnight. Repeat 5 more times.
Now draw the eyes and nose on the capybaras with a black edible food marker.
Next roll out small balls using the orange fondant.
Immediately press the green jimmies sprinkles into the top of the balls.
Attach 1 orange to the top of the capybara’s head using frosting or water.
Frosting the Capybara Mini Cakes:
Mix together the white frosting and 2 -3 drops of blue food coloring.
Then frost the top of the Moon Pie with blue frosting
Now frost the sides of the Moon Pies with chocolate frosting.
Cut the Matcha green tea Pocky so it’s just a little taller than the Moon Pies.
Press the cut Pocky around the sides of the Moon Pies.
Finally place the fondant capybaras and oranges on top of the Moon Pies.
Now you have the cutest little Capybara Mini Cakes! They make cute capybara cupcake toppers too!
You can make just the head too and have it peeking out of the water
