This is my sister Merry’s recipe, and it’s the Best Layered Taco Dip! You can serve it warm or cold (we prefer it cold) and it’s the first thing to disappear at any party! Great for family picnics or for watching the big game, you’ll love how easy it is to make too!

You will need:
2 (16 oz.) cans refried beans
1 (15 oz.) container guacamole (store bought or homemade)
1 cup sour cream
2/3 cup mayonnaise
2 (1 oz.) packages taco seasoning (I used gluten-free)
Garlic powder
1 TB fresh lime juice
2 Roma tomatoes, diced
1 TB fresh chopped cilantro
4 green onions, chopped
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 (2.25 oz.) can sliced olives, drained
Tortilla chips
Directions for Best Layered Taco Dip:
First open the 2 cans of refried beans and place in medium bowl. Stir in half of a taco seasoning packet. (save the ½ packet for another recipe).
Next, spread the beans on the bottom of the 9×13 serving dish.
Now, mix together the guacamole, lime juice and about ¼ tsp garlic powder
Then, spread the guacamole mixture on top of the bean layer.
Next, mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise and a full packet of taco seasoning until thoroughly combined.
Then, spread the sour cream layer on top of the guacamole layer.
Next grate the cheese. So I NEED to tell you about this grater I purchased from Amazon. It is HANDS DOWN my favorite kitchen gadget. In fact I don’t know how I survived all these years without it. I can literally grate a block of cheese in SECONDS. Not only that, you can switch out the blade and use it to slice zucchini, squash, potatoes for potato chips. I LOVE IT. You can purchase it from Amazon here (affiliate link) I absolutely love it!
Next, spread the grated cheese over the top of the sour cream layer. At this point you can bake the dip in the oven if you want it warm for a few minutes until the cheese has melted, but we prefer to skip this step because we love it cold.
Now dice and chop the tomatoes, cilantro and green onions.
Sprinkle the chopped tomatoes, green onions and cilantro on top of the cheese along with the drained sliced olives.
Serve with tortillas chips! Now you have THE BEST LAYERED TACO DIP!
It’s Gluten Free!
This is our favorite party dip. It’s always a go-to on the 4th of July, Christmas, game day (of course) and New Year’s! Always the first to go and never any leftovers. It’s a crowd pleaser and best of all, it’s so easy to make! Super simple to cut the recipe in half too for a smaller crowd. Heck, I sometimes eat it for dinner and can’t wait for the leftovers the next day for lunch!
I love that this is gluten-free too since I used the gluten-free taco dip seasoning packet, or you can make your own taco seasoning.
