These are hands-down the best scones I’ve EVER had! So many scones are dry, flavorless or too dense. These are PERFECTION. They are creamy, and fluffy and have just the right amount of sweetness without being too sweet. If you are not a fan of raisin, simply leave them out or substitute with dried cranberries, currants or blueberries! They are the perfect addition to your afternoon tea.

You will need:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup cold butter (or frozen if you are grating instead of cubing)
¼ cup cream of tartar
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
½ cup golden raisins
½ cup raisins
3 inch biscuit cutter
Egg wash (optional 1 egg whisked with 1 Tablespoon water)
Grater (optional but the best kitchen tool I’ve ever purchased on Amazon)
Directions for the Best Scones you will ever have:
First mix the sour cream, vanilla in baking soda together in a small bowl until thoroughly combined.

Next in another large bowl, combine the dry ingredients.

Now either cut the cold butter into small cubes, or grate the frozen butter (my preferred method). This grater I got from Amazon is THE BEST kitchen gadget I’ve ever purchased. It grates butter, cheese, zucchini, and more like a dream . It also has an attachment that slices potatoes, squash and more. I absolutely love it and it’s dishwasher safe! You can buy it here and you won’t regret it.

Now cut the butter into the dry ingredients with a fork until the mixture has small pebble like consistency.

Then stir in the sour cream mixture and 1 egg into the rest of the ingredients.

Mix in the raisins and stir until they are incorporated into the dough.

Now, using a rolling pin, roll out the dough on a floured board and fold it in half. Repeat 3 more times and foll the dough until it is about ¾ inch thick.
Using a 3 inch biscuit cutter, cut the dough our and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Then brush the egg wash on top of each scone.

Bake at a 350 degree preheated oven for 14 – 17 minutes or until golden on top.

These are honestly the best scones ever. My family always begs me to make them especially around the holidays. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch or Afternoon Tea!
