This unleavened bread recipe is just the best. When our boys were small, they loved going to Vacation Bible School and they would love their snack of unleavened bread. They used to call it “Eleven Bread” and Marcia, my sweet bible study leader was kind enough to share the recipe with me. This was many years ago, but I still make it here at home with my sons. It’s a great meaningful memory for them.

You will need:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 TB sugar
Pinch salt
½ cup butter (one stick)
¼ cup Half and Half
½ cup milk
Directions for Unleavened Bread:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit
Mix dry ingredients together well in a large bowl.
Add the Half and Half and milk to make a medium dough.
Divide dough in half and knead for a couple of minutes.
With rolling pin, roll out about ¼ inch thick on a generously floured board.
Cut rolled dough into 1” squares using a pizza cutter.
Prick dough squares with a fork, and place on a cookie sheet.
Bake for about 20 minutes.
You can make the dough ahead of time and store it in the freezer until you’re ready to bake. Cookie cutters make them special. You can store the baked bread in freezer in an air tight container or bag for up to 2 months.
This is a great recipe for your young kiddos to make! You’ll be teaching them not only a wonderful lesson, but a memory that they will cherish as much as my sons still do.
Deuteronomy 16:3-4
You shall eat no leavened bread with it; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, that is, the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste), that you may remember the day in which you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life. And no leaven shall be seen among you in all your territory for seven days, nor shall any of the meat which you sacrifice the first day at twilight remain overnight until morning.
