My mom’s Sweet Vinegar Coleslaw is hand-down, no-contest, best ever coleslaw in the world. Every time she made it or brought it to a picnic or potluck, it was always the first to go. It’s light, refreshing, sweet and tangy and perfect for a pulled pork sandwich.
A crowd favorite, you’ll be asked for this recipe over and over again. No mayo is in the dressing so it’s great as an outdoor BBQ side!

You will need:
1 (14 oz.) bag tri-color coleslaw
about ½ green pepper, diced
½ red onion diced
½ cup granulated sugar
Dressing:
½ cup white vinegar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
½ tsp ground dry mustard
1 tsp celery seeds

Directions for Sweet Vinegar Coleslaw:
Dice the green pepper and onion
In a medium bowl, mix together the coleslaw, green pepper, red onion and sugar. Set aside.
Next combine the dressing ingredients.
Boil dressing over medium heat in a small pan for 1 minute. Cool completely.
Pour over coleslaw and mix thoroughly.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Now you have the BEST sweet vinegar coleslaw! After eating this, you’ll never go back to a mayo based coleslaw ever! It’s super refreshing and so easy to make. Drain a little of the liquid in the morning and it may look a little pink if you used the tri-color coleslaw mix.
This is a great side dish for fish and chicken too. You can even add a few dashes of Tabasco for a spicy kick if you want! Great with BBQ pork or ribs, your family an friends will rave about this!
