These orange soda cupcakes are perfect for summer! My kids also call them orange creamsicle cupcakes and they are so easy to make! Perfect for potlucks or picnics, these cupcakes are always the first to go at any gathering!

You will need:
1 (15.25 oz.) box white cake mix
1 cup orange soda pop
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 eggs
1/2 tsp orange zest
1 1/2 tsp orange extract
For frosting:
1 cup butter, softened
5 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk
Orange food coloring
1 Tb orange soda pop
1 tsp orange extract
6 paper straws
1 disposable decorating bag
1 large open star decorating tip

Directions for Orange Soda Cupcakes:
Place cupcake liners in a muffin pan and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together the cake ingredients with a beater on medium for about 2 minutes.
Fill the cupcake liners 2/3 full of batter. Bake for 12-17 minutes. Let cupcakes cool completely.
For the frosting, cream the soft butter with a mixer and add in the orange pop and the orange extract.
Alternately add the powdered sugar and milk and beat until fluffy. Add orange food coloring if desired.
Place frosting in a disposable piping bag fitted with a large open star decorating tip. Swirl on frosting and top with a paper straw cut in half.
