Everyone loves this easy Shepherd’s Pie and you will love it too because it’s so simple to make! With just a few ingredients, this meal comes together so quickly and is the ultimate comfort food! It’s sure to be a new family favorite on your dinner rotation!
You can easily double this recipe too – it’s perfect for a potluck or to feed a large family or crowd.

You will need:
1 lb. ground beef
½ medium onion diced
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
1 (.88 oz.) McCormick gluten-free brown gravy packet
Fresh ground black pepper to taste
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup water
4 russet potatoes, peeled and diced
3 Tablespoons of butter
1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese
1/3 – ½ cup milk (you want the potatoes smooth but not runny)
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
*Optional – Ateco open star piping tip #829 and Wilton disposable piping bag (I use Wilton brand because they don’t melt when using hot food like mashed potatoes)

Directions for Easy Shepherd’s Pie:
First cook the ground beef and onion in a large skillet until almost done. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
Next, add the mixed vegetables and cook for another couple of minutes.
Then sprinkle in the entire brown gravy packet and pour in the water.
Mix thoroughly and let simmer until the meat is cooked and the vegetables are warmed through but not cooked all the way. Add fresh black pepper to taste.
Place the meat mixture in a 1.5 quart casserole dish.
Now to make the mashed potatoes, place the diced potatoes in boiling water for about 20 minutes until they are fork tender.
Next drain the water and add the milk, 3 Tablespoons butter and cheese to the potatoes. Mash with potato masher or with a hand mixer until the potatoes are smooth and have no lumps. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Then place potatoes in a piping bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe the mashed potatoes on top of the beef mixture or just simply smooth them out over the beef mixture.
Finally top with melted butter.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes until top is golden. (the last minute or so you can even put it under the broiler and watch it until it’s golden).
Let sit for about 15 minutes and serve.
