On June 25, 1988 I married the love of my life. Let me tell you what kind of guy I married. There are days where he wakes me up with tickets to Vegas in his hand and says, “You have an hour to pack, I made reservations at your favorite restaurant tonight.” He’s done this more than once. No one has to tell me how very lucky I am.
So to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we went to Vegas – my favorite place – I’m not much of a gambler but I do enjoy the restaurants, shows and especially the hot gorgeous weather.
After we returned we thought we would have an intimate dinner with family. I wanted the chance to relax and enjoy the night without the stress of cooking or cleaning.
But I did want put my personal touches on the evening without a lot of fuss or expense. I started by creating my own invitations and then blinging them up with rhinestone stickers.
I blinged up store-bought place cards too. The silver heart holders were a great inexpensive find online.
Sweet little personalized boxes that I embellished with pretty black and silver glitter tape and rhinestone heart stickers from Michaels were filled with Hershey Kisses and personalized anniversary stickers. I wanted to place one on every guest’s plate at dinner.
And here’s how the placecards and boxes looked! Cute, right?
I actually found these little frames at a dollar store. I blinged them out with leftover stickers from my invitations.
Then I placed the frames around the beautiful flower centerpiece created by the resort’s florist.
We celebrated with a formal dinner in the Wine Room at the Tulalip Bay Restaurant in Tulalip, Washington.

I found these cute little favor bags at Hobby Lobby and made them my own by adding monogram stickers, square rhinestone stickers and silver ribbon.
I filled each favor bag with mints for our guests to take home.
The Wine Room was gorgeous. The food was amazing – the service unmatched. I absolutely loved how the waiters swept the table and placed all of our plates down at the same time. Very classy.
Matt Warren, the Maître d’, assured me my food allergies would be taken care of and had organized every detail of the dinner.
The entire party was so wonderful that my husband requested that all of the staff and chefs come out so we could all give them a round of applause and show our appreciation.
The night couldn’t have been more perfect. On the way home I was so happy, I cried.

Let me tell you about this cake, because, well, I know cake. I’ve tasted a lot of cake in my life and blogged about taste-testing cake. This cake was the BEST CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. No joke. AND it was white cake.
Now those that know me know I like chocolate cake.
I took the top tier home and ate it. All by myself. Honest. It was good enough to hide in the back of the fridge from the rest of my family. And no, I didn’t feel bad about it.
Our sweet boys presented us with a beautiful crystal candy jar. They are so thoughtful, taking after their dad, ’cause they know their mama loves her candy. I am blessed.
People have asked us what is the secret to a long marriage? We tell them we have never and don’t ever plan on sharing our desserts with each other. Someone has to have the last forkful and the other person is always bitter about it. It just breeds resentment.
But really, “All you need is LOVE.”
